Parkside petrol chainsaw...recommended?

Saw the Lidl 80 quid bargain on Parkside petrol chainsaw (again!). Really tempted to get it for some fire log / wood chopping. Been trying to look for cheap petrol chainsaw reviews but the Which.co.uk one is behind the paywall. Would anyone recommend it? Lidl says 3-year warranty though I am slightly suspicious of how easy it would be, when needed...

I have heard that Lidl will uphold the ,3year warranty without any problems.
Probably it's because Parkside tools aren't generally used in the trade, so they will usually last the distance. They are probably a decent tool for the price.

I can't comment on the chainsaw in particular, but I've had quite a bit of Parkside stuff over the years.  Obviously it's not professional quality, but for DIY use I think they're pretty good for the price.

I have a Qualcast electric chainsaw with an Oregon blade. Good for the money although the auto oiling doesn’t seem to work very well.
Have had it all apart to check oilways and pump and seems to be working ok but doesn’t spray much.
Also have a Titan 2 stroke strimmer which is excellent for £80.

Good to know! I think I'll just go for it as it's a chance too good to be missed. Always the middle aisle...haha. Thanks anyway!

That's reassuring enough for me. I aim to do some "light" chopping with it so i hope it's a good investment :) thanks a lot!

Cheers for the heads up. Will do some more research on how to maintain it after each use. I did see other people talking about Titan, but I don't think screwfix offer the more affordable versiona these days. Thanks very much!

Also my Qualcast dumps the blade lubricating oil everywhere when in storage.
I now either manually oil the blade or just put a small amount in.

If you are wanting a chainsaw for occasional use, an electric one may be better.
Petrol will evaporate from the tank, gum up jets in the carburetor, and will need regular servicing. An electric one is much quieter, and may only need new brushes once every 5 years or so.
