Lloyds car insurance - speed awareness course

Hi,

My FIL has received a speeding ticket with the offer of attending a speed awareness course rather than receiving 3 points on his license.

His insurance has renewed today with Lloyds.  I just wondered if anyone has their car insurance with them and knows whether he needs to inform them if he goes on the course.

I don’t think he does and would only need to do so if he takes the points but if someone could please confirm that would be great.

Thanks.

Read the insurance documentation.  It will tell you there.

You don't have to tell insurers about a speed awareness course.

You do if they ask. Admiral do, for example.

It would seem to vary between insurers so he will need to check with them.

Admiral stopped asking several years ago. AFAIK there are currently no insurers that do ask, but yes if you are asked you should declare it.

Read the question carefully - if they ask about "convictions, fixed penalties or endorsements" then you don't have to declare a speed awareness course. If they say "convictions, fixed penalties, endorsements or speed awareness courses" then you do.
