Just received notice of our EDF fixed tariff ending along with renewal costs (estimated).
currently paying £113 per month for dual fuel, not surprised to see the estimated variable rate of £224 per month with a fixed offer at £312 but the exit fee is also moving from £30 per fuel to £150 per fuel !!

Someone mentioned this on here earlier - I suggested flagging it to Martin Lewis onTwitter as he might well be interested to take issue with such a sharp increase.

Already in the last thread you gave this advice @BUFF told you that Martin is aware of this.

I also have no idea what anybody can do against it, the supplier and the customer are taking both a gamble on the price, and the supplier wants to avoid the customer just cutting his losses when he loses and the price goes down. I don't know of any law that says they cannot charge high exit fees, nobody is forcing anybody to take a deal if they don't like it.

It is just the price for certainty in an uncertain future...

... and, at least for ther OP, it's roughly equal to one month's payment.
If you later find a deal that's more than 8% cheaper, the saving will cover the exit fee.

Dose not really matter anyway as I don't think the deal can be recommended. It seems to be around 40% more expensive when you just look at the direct debit.

@Desm0nd can you please post the unit rates you are been offered?
