Does anyone know if advocaat that isn't Warninks tastes the same? Warninks is about £9 and others are more like £5?

I've no idea. I am going to get a £5 bottle for Xmas.
I plan to make 1/2 pint snowballs with it, so I figure it's fine.
Also, don't forget to check the alcohol content - maybe the cheaper ones are less %proof0 -
Ah, right. I never thought about the alcohol content, good point.
Thanks

I bought the cheap £4 ish one in Tesco today and made Nigella's eggnog cream - was delicious. Tried to drink on it's own too and was very impressed, would buy cheap one again. If Life Deals You a Lemon - Make Lemonade!! :j0

To be honest have tried both & if your adding lime juice/lemonade etc it doesn't make a deal of difference. Its not something we drink often enough to know the difference.
Bottoms up

I tried the cheaper one in ASDA and it was ok, but the one from LIDL was not nice, it seemed cloying.
I love snowballs.0 -
My Snowball Recipe
1 measure of advocaat into a half pint glass
1 measure of lime cordial into the glass
Top up with fizzy lemonade*
I pour the lime, then the lemonade into the same measure as the advocaat so as to not waste a drop!
If you're posh, then stick some cherries on sticks across the top of the glass.
*If you've not had this before, it's worth tasting it from half a glass upwards. See at which point you prefer the thickness of the mix.

No - I have just poured a whole bottle of the Tesco advocaat down the sink. It doesnt have any brandy in it but some 'neutral spirit' - horrible. Dont waste your money.0

But the snowball recipe was a really good discovery (for me) So, I would not mind if such a useful threads were dug out.
As for "Advocate", in my student's days we did it ourself. It's just egg yolks beaten with sugar (+vanilla), then you add alcohol. And it tasted as good as the one from the shops...0
