Buffalo router encryption problem!

Hi,

I have started configuring my new wireless buffalo router which I use on Virgin cable broadband.

When I set the encryption to WPA using the web based config tool I find that I can still connect to the net as normal but I cant connect to the router config page, it comes up enter passoword then just hangs.

The only way to enter the config page is to reset the router so it loses the encrption and do it that way.

The only encryption I can get is TKIP.

Any ideas?

Are you doing the wireless encryption set-up while connected using an Ethernet cable?

  • No, PC upstairs, router downstairs so doing setup via wireless.

I would try setting up encryption while connected via the Ethernet cable.

Unplug the router downstairs, take it upstairs and connect it to the PC using the Ethernet cable and set-up the encryption, then take it back downstairs again. Save your encryption key to a notpad file so that you can copy and paste it when required.
