Evidence of where money is coming from

Does the solicitor normally ask to see all the accounts where the money for the deposit, stamp duty & fees will come from? We thought we only had to show the deposit money accounts. Just wanted some clarification.
Also if we do need to show where all the money is coming from, we have a joint account which my husband transfers his salary into (from his own personal account)...will they need to see the account his salary is paid into as well?

There are no standard rules - you'll need to ask your solicitor what exactly they'll need. Is any of this actually a problem?2

Roughly the same when me and partner were buying. We have a joint account and he transfers in part of his salary whereas my salary goes into that account and I transfer money out. We had to show statements for all 3 accounts even though the joint one was not where deposit was coming from.1

Yeah we had to show the various accounts money was coming from, including a gifted element (had to show 3 months for that too)1

Our solicitor was fine with seeing the 2 accounts we had our salaries paid into as it was obviously tagged as from the employers. Additional proof was required for a large gift made to us as well as a letter signed by the person making the gift to say that it was a gift and they weren't expecting to be named as an owner of the property.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
