I used tax returned.co.uk a few years ago. Last year HMRC said that i had a refund but i never received it. I chased tax returned and they were pretty evasive and wouldnt answer direct questions.
I left it thinking it would all come out in the wash. Today i spoke to HMRC about something else and also enquired about my refund. They told me it was issued directly to tax returned last February. I have never received a thing from them nor any sort of communication telling me about the refund. Is this allowed??

Probably not... Look at your contract with taxreturned - you have given them authority to deal with HMRC on your behalf for a fee/commission. If they have not passed on what was left of the refund - you will have to go down the route of suing them.
But first check that you have formally told HMRC that taxreturned is no longer acting for you...Wash your Knobs and Knockers... Keep the Postie safe!2 -

No its not allowed, they should have told you about the refund. How much do tax returned.co.uk charge to use the service ?0 -
https://www.taxreturned.co.uk/fees/
our fee is the greater of 28% (+VAT) or £50 (+VAT). If your refund is less than £50 (+VAT), our fee will be limited to the amount you received, not a penny more.
Fees will still apply to any claims submitted to HMRC before the cancellation or termination of a Contract.0 -
Oh my, they make it sound like they are doing you a favour by waiving their minimum fee if your refund is under £60!0
