Default raised on my credit file in error

Hi, I'm hoping someone may be able to offer some advice or let me know their experience regarding a default being logged against your credit file in error. In December 2020 I missed a few payments on my Barclaycard credit card, I was sent a final letter where I had to bring payments up to date and if I didn't pay by February 2021 my account would be placed into default. I paid the full arrears on 25th January 2021. A default was still applied to my account on 19th February. I complained about this and it was resolved by Barclays accepting fault and the default was to be removed. May 2022, I was declined car finance which I was shocked about as I thought I had good credit. After subscribing to Experian the default is still on my file and was never removed. I contacted Experian who contacted Barclays to check this and Barclays refused to remove it. I have the letter from Barclays confirming the default was added in error and it would be removed. After speaking with Barclays and being on the phone for 3 hours a new complaint had to be raised. I cant explain how stressed and annoyed I am with this situation. I have raised a complaint with the Financial Ombudsman too. Would I be entitled to compensation? or what would happen in this situation ? I feel like this is a big mistake on their behalf. Thanks guys

FOS won't look at your complaint until Barclays have looked at it, so withdraw it if you can.
You may get a goodwill gesture from Barclays.
Check your other two files to see if anything incorrect appears on those.0 -
I had a similar issue with creation, in that they screwed up my direct debit and decided not to tell me about it for 5 weeks, then they called me demanding money the day before a direct debit was due.
I got refused finance as they put a late marker on my file incorrectly as they were paid on time. If you have the letter stating that Barclays were at fault raise a dispute with the credit agencies and send them a copy. From memory the CRA haS 28 days to contact the company and then it can take up to 60 days to update your file. I found of all the agencies Transunion are the quickest with updates
My settlement was £500 for the hassle, you want similar if not more as your case is certainly a more severe error than mine. Stand your ground and don't back down is what I would suggest0 -

However, if you were nearly/mistakenly defaulted you must have missed 5/6 payments? There is no such thing as missing payments on Credit cards and having "good credit". So the default may not have been the only reason for decline.
Did you miss payments on other credit agreements during the same period as the CC issue?Life isn't about the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away. Like choking....0 -
5+ missed payments on 1 credit card indicate your credit history is pretty poor. That maybe the reason for the decline on the car finance0
