Hotel booking

Hi we booked a travel lodge and airport parking through the travel supermarket website with holiday extras, which we paid for in advance and had a confirmation of the booking and payment, on arriving at the Travel Lodge we showed them our booking and they said sorry we have no record of your booking, and I said this confirmation is proof of booking, they says no we have no booking, and we are full so there is nothing we can do so we had to leave drop our car at the airport car parking and spend 15 hours at the airport as all the hotels in Birmingham were all booked up as Little Mix were at the Nec, 
I have contacted travel supermarket and holiday extras two weeks ago and neither of them have even bothered to contact me back, what can I do to get a refund back for the hotel, and can I claim compensation for having to sit at the airport for 15 hours over night in the freezing cold and we were both ill as a result of this in the first week of our holiday.
Any help or suggestions would very much be appreciated.

    How much was it and how did you pay?  Debit or credit card proceedings may be an option.

    You can separately try and claim compensation, but you may struggle to get anything.  How far from the airport do you live?  Couldn't you have driven home, slept and returned later?
