Do I Need Building Warrant?

Our windows need replacing. It's not a conservation area so in theory don't think need one. But I remember something about this sort of work needing signed off when you come to sell the property. Based in Scotland. Have I got this mixed up with something else? I know this sounds confused but Building Standards not open till tomorrow.

South of the boarder, there are a number of "competent person" schemes that can self certify works and provide certificates & register the work with Building Control. FENSA & CERTASS are the two main ones in England & Wales. It looks like there are similar schemes running in Scotland. When getting quotes, ask about certification & building warrants.Avoid the big nationals like Anglian, Zenith, Safestyle, etc. Go with a local company (or an independent fitter) and you will get a much better service without the high pressure sales & B.S.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Thanks FreeBear. I called Anglia for a quote pre COVID. 9k for 2 large, 1 medium and 2 small windows. They keep calling saying I can pay in installments but that's close to double what I think it should be.0

I had the Anglian muppets knocking on my door the same day as the (local independent) fitter was putting the finishing touches to the bay window. Not the brightest bunch...

We had a similar experience with one of the 'big names'. Our windows had been in for about 3 months when we had the knock on the door asking if we were interested in new windows!
