EDF Deal

I noticed that the above "deal" had appeared in my account yesterday.
I am fixed until the end of June, so won't be jumping yet.
Using their estimates for my annual usage the "deal" would mean bills 23.7% above the SV tariff so if still on offer when my fix ends, it may be worth considering.1 -
It all depends what you believe is going to happen in the next two years. If you believe the prices will come down during this time or stay the same it is not a good idea to fix for 2 years. If you think the prices will continue to increase do the fix.
I have done a slightly cheaper 2 year fix with EDF in February for March 22 to February 24, electricity 32.905p and gas at 9.05p. Standing charges differ from region to region, gas was the same end electricity only 37p for me. Also £300 exit fee.
I decided for myself that the prices are likely to increase further and wanted a fixed rate for the next two years. I might be wrong, and I might be correct. As I am high electricity user the exit fee does not bother me to much, should prices come down a lot I will calculate when going onto another tariff will make sense even with exit fee.
I will see in two years if my decision was a good one.1 -
£300 exit fee is huge - and well out of proportion to where exit fees have always been pitched. I wonder if @MSE_Martin is aware of this - it could be worth someone who has had this offer flagging it up with him on Twitter, where he is more active.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Of course that is vulnerable to unexpected events as we have all learned in the last year or so - so who knows. Only hindsight is 20/20.EssexHebridean said:£300 exit fee is huge - and well out of proportion to where exit fees have always been pitched. I've never had any contact with EDF until a letter arrived on Friday. It was quite blunt and they were demanding I pay an outstanding balance I supposedly owed to Green Network Energy, which EDF inherited as a SOLR. I had 14 days to settle the amount or my case was going to be referred to the debt collectors. This was the first and only contact I'd had from EDF. The fact that I wasn't emailed , phoned or got a text message led me to think this might be a scam. So I phoned EDF to learn I had been assigned a temporary account number as my account wasn't live with them. Rather strange as if I'd had an account with Green Network Energy and they'd inherited that account, I should have a live account with EDF.
The person I spoke to on the phone was really abrupt to the point of part way through the call I asked him if he minded if I recorded the conversation at which point he stated "there's no need as we always record calls". I duly pointed out to this person that EDF was obliged to inform me that the call was being recorded before commencing. That really pushed his buttons and he went into overdrive. He informed me that Green Network Energy had supplied me and it was an outstanding debt to them that EDF was recovering. Every second sentence from this person was asking me if I was going to pay it. I politely declined on each occasion and told him that I would use the services of "Resolver" to settle the matter.
My first port of call was to contact the national grid in my area which gave me my historical suppliers all the way back to April 1996. They had all my leaving and joining dates for energy suppliers and proved I had never been a customer of Green Network Energy. I have since opened a case with Resolver and made it abuntantly clear I'm willing to contest the matter in Court if needs be.
Trying to bully a customer into paying a fabricated debt shows, in my view how low they're prepared to stoop. Giving someone 14 days to pay a non existent debt or the matter will incur charges and be referred to debt collectors is bullying and scare mongering. Not informing me my call was being recorded is illegal. I asked for and received permission from the agent to record the conversation. So EDF, if you ever read this post I have a lovely recording of your telephone bloodhound trying to bully me.
I was wondering if there are others besides myself who have been contacted / treated in this way by EDF ?0 -
@sofiejones your post has nothing to do with the latest EDF deal, suggest you open your own topic with a suitable title and specify who is actually supplying your energy.0
