If you buy online you're not pressured into anything.
I've just gone on the haven website & looked at a break, once I select the break I want it loaded onto the extras page where the option for the holiday protection is. There is a button which says "more details", click that & the following text appears:Cancelling because of sickness, redundancy, jury service or death
Cancelling 2 days or more before arrival (48 hours) - Full refund
Cancelling less than 2 days before arrival (47 hours, 59 minutes) - 30% of your total holiday cost
Cancelling for another reason
Cancelling 70 days or more before arrival - Full refund minus any deposit paid, and any amount paid for Haven Holiday Protection
Cancelling 69 - 43 days or more before arrival - 70% refund, minus any deposit paid, and any amount paid for Haven Holiday Protection
Cancelling 42 - 29 days or more before arrival - 50% refund, minus any deposit paid, and any amount paid for Haven Holiday Protection
Cancelling 28 - 8 days or more before arrival - 10% refund, minus any deposit paid, and any amount paid for Haven Holiday Protection
7 days or less - No refund
Haven’s Holiday Protection can be added at the time of booking or within 48 hours of booking.
We’ll need written proof of why you’ve had to cancel at least 48 hours before the start of your holiday. Proof such as doctor’s certificate, death certificate, employer’s or court notification can be sent by recorded delivery. Please see our Terms & Conditions to view full details.
No real rabbit hole....

Not sure you're the target audience for this one. I am very much the target audience for these things. I truely hope you never are.Sites have calls to action. Some sites are designed to build on an impulse buy, by adding an urgency. EG ONE LEFT AT THIS PRICE.All buying based sites are designed to encourage you to purchase, and understandably make it as easy as poss to do so. THE IMPLICATION of the cover button> ADD NOW>> is that you're covered. The wording of the button/page is misleading. Fortunately for us, Citizen Advice agrees.

Fortunately for us, Citizen Advice agrees. They offer an extra and if you are interested you click on the “more details” button to find out what it includes. In the same way you do when you choose your accommodation, breakfast, meal packages, drinks packages and entertainment when booking accommodation.
The alternative is have a massive wall of text where people who aren’t even interested the extras have to scroll down 6 pages of text to grab their last minute holiday.People would still complain that they were exploited because they never read any of it because their was too much irrelevant text on the page.1 -
Not sure what the OP is getting at
i booked a hoseasons break yesterday and was given 2 options , one with cancellation insurance and one without, I chose the without option
both policies were clearly described0 -
photome said:Not sure what the OP is getting atTrying to ignore the rather dramatic writing style, I think what has happened is that the OP has quickly booked a break for sometime in the near future, hastened by the fact that it was advertised as a limited time and/or restricted number deal. They chose to purchase the cancellation cover too without reading all the T&Cs, and shortly after the purchase have had second thoughts and decided to cancel . but they've now realised that they won't get a full refund because the holiday is scheduled for less than 80 days in advance.6
