Nissan Renault Engines 1.2

Good morning to all,

I am seeking advice and guidance in a case  I am looking to proceed, I purchased a Nissan Juke 1.2  64 plate From the trade centre Wales in 2018 at 24,443k miles at sum including interest of £14,324 Finance was with Oddle Finance. Whiles owning the car I notice the oil consumption was a big issue while monitoring it was being consumed at alarming rate around 1200 miles max to low.

I contacted Nissan in sep-2019, They advised there was an open campaign pg6bp (see Image)
turns out these engines have a design and production issues and this reprogramming was made to solve the abnormal manifold pressure causing the piston to suck oil through in to the cylinder and burn the oil at alarming rates. This will only happen when the car is idle or at low rpm like town centres.

in Nov-2019, I took the car for the reprogramming at a local dealership.

In Dec-2019 i discovered misfire on cylinder 2 and a timing chain issue as well as low oil still being an issue. so I booked this in to the dealership and the work  carried out to replace the timing chain spark plugs rocker cover gasket. Costing £1365 car was around 42,000miles

in Feb 2020 be recontracted Nissan case manager and made them aware the car still had oil issues. oil from max to below  half after travelling 634miles and this was the fresh new oil dealership put in when timing chain had been done. This was disregarded and case closed.

in March 2021 we paid the HP off as we did try to reject this prior with the finance company about the  issues and was refused so we paid it off to reclaim some finance, I thought as long as i can keep oil above min all be okay.

in Jan 2020, The new timing chain is starting to rattle over 3000rpm and up hills, booked it into the dealership and where work was prior done and they deny any issues, yet dashcam footage shows different where one mechanic seen taking photos on his personal phone shortly after the other stating a issue (!!!!!!).

My case is open with Nissan as I have reopened the issues  but have discovered this is a widespread issue  with Renault engines and my VIN falls within  (see evidence)

I am at a financial crisis due to this and trying to fight this but don't be worse off than I already am

General advice: there's no replacement for displacement.  A medium sized car needs a medium sized engine to power it, at least a 1.8 and preferably 2.0 litres plus.  Expecting a Micra sized engine to power it reliably is expecting too much, even with a turbo strapped on.  The engine may be producing reasonable horsepower and torque, but will be overworked doing it as you have found out to your cost.

What would I do?  Cut my losses, sell the car and buy an older model with a bigger engine.

The Juke 1.2 has direct injection and, I assume, uses high turbo boost to generate a high brake mean effective pressure.  That makes it relatively powerful for its size and fuel efficient, but places far more strain on the internals than would be found within a 2.0 normally aspirated engine.
