New bathroom fitted and plumber won't respond

Hi,

I have had my bathroom ripped out, and everything replaced. All plastered, tiled behind shower, floor tiles etc, and it wasn't cheap.

I can't fault the guy who did it. He got in a tiler and plasterer, and he did the rest. I'm really pleased with what's been done.

However, there is now a crack in one of the tiles where the shower has been put on, so water can get behind the tiles.

The whole reason for me ripping the bathroom out, was that water was getting behind the tiles, and water was running into my downstairs toilet.

I'm now back to square one!

I messaged the plumber and there was no response. I messaged him again, he said he hasn't seen the original message (which I knew he had), and said he would ring me that evening, which he didn't!

It took me a long time to save for this bathroom, it's only been installed a couple of weeks and is faulty.

I'm going to ring him, but not sure how I should handle this.

Any advice would be welcome.

Many thanks

Michelle

can you contact the tiler - or a tiler - it should not be expensive to replace a tile

All good trades people are extremely busy and he probably doesn't see one cracked tile as something urgent to fix.  I'm not saying he's right, just suggesting how he may see it.  My brother-in-law is a builder and is totally knackered when he get home.  He openly admits that he genuinely forgets to call people back unless his wife reminds him.
What you could do as a short term fix is smear clear silicone sealant over the crack.  That should prevent water getting in there.

You could get a quote from another tradesperson (or the original tiler). Then send it to him and give him 7 days to respond.

It could be something structural if its cracking again. Did they know they have cracked before? Is it an external wall?
