Forget to say when we were having tea last night, little one pipes up ' Granny I have something to tell you.' She paused - for dramatic effect - ' My mummy has a baby brother in her tummy!' I said I didn't think so - she was adamant. When DD came in to pick her up later she said 'What have you been saying at nursery?' - one of the girls had texted to ask if little ones' announcement was true or another of her stories! It's definitely a story!
Morning all. The weather here today seems to be a rinse and repeat of dull skies, breezy and mild. The sun put in an appearance for a while yesterday afternoon so I took myself out for a walk to the Co-op and I was surprised at just how warm it was. I didn't get much, just a small bag of baby potatoes and 2 pints of milk to put us on over the weekend, and a ys pack of sausages that are now portioned and frozen. Oh, and two bananas for me. So, not much spent.
My gentle pottering yesterday turned out to be some paper shredding and a tidy up of the small drawer I use for herbs and spices. I binned two that were almost empty (gone off and won't get used) and topped up some of the others from refill bags. After that, I downed tools and knitted for a while before dinner. We had scampi with salad so an easy meal that used up quite a few bits from the fridge. Tonight we're having spam, egg & chips and I quite fancy a bit of curry sauce with it.
On today's agenda is a sort through of my yarn stash - again. I've used up a lot so it's looking more respectable and less like a yarn shop, but I know there are some oddments that can go in the CS bag. After that I can update the list of what I have left and decide what to make with it. I'm determined I won't buy any more until it's used up but it's so hard - I think I must be a wool-aholic!
Just had a late lunch.DH is at home as the work van had to go in for a service, they've just rung to say it's ready.I've been let off the school pickup, DS2 will go for DGs and then later we'll go to football training and take him back to his DMs. He got hit in the face with a football yesterday and gave me an accident slip as he'd had some first aid- how times change, that used to be my job as first aider when I still worked at school. He said he was fine but his cousin who is in Y6 told the boy off
Nelski you sound more cheerful today Gers sounds like a lovely drive ,enjoy. I've just put a colour on my hair as my hairdresser is coming tomorrow.
Dp1, little Miss Mischief , unless of couse she has hidden powers
Not got anything out for tea so looks like it might be egg and bacon!
Enjoy your day whatever you're up to x

DP1 - we get a copy of the exam paper to read. Yesterday was Higher English, one paper 'reading for understanding, analysis and evaluation' and the second was 'Critical reading'. Both were really interesting and kept me occupied for a while. A previous one was Geography, it's so different from when I was at school. One next week is Spanish, not at all interesting for me so I will take my earbuds to listen to a book whilst the students beaver away.
Maybe DGD is indulging in some wishful thinking!
Maddie - the scenery is stunning in the sunshine. This morning I had fabulous views of the Paps of Jura on the early part of my drive and the Kilbranan Sound and the Isle of Arran once I'd moved onto the east side of the peninsula. All of that road is single track so it's a lot of pulling into passing places to let traffic coming the other way or being allowed through. It's a very scenic route.
My hair cut was done well, it's a very calming atmosphere there which is why I like it particularly. A husband and wife combo, both very Zen, he does Indian head massage, she's the stylist and the only music playing is quiet trance tracks. Daringly I've booked a hair colour for my next visit in August for when I go to Australia. I've never had one before but wanted to not be so very grey when there. If my hair was fully grey or silver or even white I wouldn't bother however, my hair can't make up its mind to do more than be a mixture of dull grey and still dark, very messy looking.
I had a long chat with my GP this morning whilst driving (handsfree) about my Advance Directive - in England it's called a Living Will. He was very pleased that I had decided to have this drawn up and was happy with the conditions I have set for it. This will allow my POA to feel guiltless when faced with medics asking 'what would she like?' although I'm hopeful that it won't be for many years! Another admin task done.
Just as I arrived home I got a call from the country store, sunflower hearts were back in stock, so I zoomed out to get a packet. The price for 15kg has jumped by £13.00 🤯 down to the old 'supply and demand' problem. Supply is limited so demand is high. Perhaps when winter arrives and feeding the birds is more critical the price will have levelled out again.
