More fireplace help! Built in bioethanol fire

Hi all

We're a little way off needing this yet but we need to plan for it now, before the build starts!

All along I've been hellbent on having a wood burner but now I'm wondering if they're a bit old hat these days, although I do still love the look. I'm now leaning towards a bioethanol fire instead, either built in, or in a fireplace, or open with a wall above and below. That I haven't quite decided! Do any of you have a fire like this and would you mind sharing pics for inspiration? Is there anything in particular I should look out for/avoid?

It is for our extension which will be approx 6m x 9m and will house a kitchen and lounge area, due to needing to hide a steel in the wall at the 4m point the fireplace will be approx 2m wide.
Thanks in advance!

Have you looked into the safety of these devices?

I think anyone who has done a fire awareness course and had demonstrated to them the devastating effects of a oil fire coming into contact with liquid would think twice about having one in the house.

"Old hat"? You wait till the power outages next winter before judging the humble wood burner!

Not so far no, but I've seen them recommended or suggested as an alternative by posters on this site and if they were that unsafe no one would have them. And there are risks with any fire. But I will do some research, thanks

Trust me, after needing a new boiler and being without heating or hot water for over a week, during one of the coldest weeks this year, I would have given my right arm for a log burner 🤣 I just fancy something different 🤷‍♂️

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service website is a good place to start your research.
When doing research in other places it pays to remember that information can be slanted towards getting sales.
