    As you see I described things that might have happened, as a possibility. You are dismissing them as a possibility based on the positive assertion of someone you don't know who gives no grounds for that assertion.  You can if you like, of course.

    My opinion is that experience with a designer may lead (on the balance of probabilities) to a different conclusion than that which you reached. Evidence (howsoever reached) > conjecture. :)

    Evidence would require more than an unsupported and unreasoned assertion.  "They wouldn't do that" based on nothing whatsoever is not > anything.

    Now if they had given you some supporting reasons and outlined why they said that, you might have something.  At the moment you don't know what  their "experience" was or if they have drawn an entirely spurious conclusion from it which it didn't warrant.

    I won't do a smiley face, it doesn't add force to an argument.
