Energy Refund Advice
Hi Everyone,
I could do with some advice on the next steps i should take with money owed from a previous supplier.
I was with Green Energy and initiated a move a few weeks before they announced they were to cease trading (September 2021). I spoke to the administration company and they instructed me not to worrry etc. However I felt i had to chase this again earlier this year (January 2022). I was told that i need to contact shell who had took over Green Energy suppliers even though i had never joined them.
After contracting Shell on approx 4 occasions i sent an email / ticket to them stating that i expected my refund by April 2022, giving them approx a month to get this sorted. I received a response saying had i recieved a cheque. I had not so kindly responded that i had not. I have contacted them again to state this. Still no response what should i do know?
Thanks in advance everyone.

Most of the SOLR suppliers like Shell are still busy with the onboarding of the customers from the failed companies and chasing the information from administrators.
They will deal with "their" new customers first, and people who changed suppliers before the old one went bust have the lowest priority for them.
When you check the forum you will find that every day people are still reporting that the credit has been added to their account or that they received a cheque.
Not much you can do here except to wait.0 -
In my eyes 8 months is not acceptable. Would anyone be able to give me some advise on the next steps i should take please?

Somebody has to be last unfortunately. It's a mammoth exercise that's been gone through. All will be resolved in the end.dastrix said:In my eyes 8 months is not acceptable. Would anyone be able to give me some advise on the next steps i should take please?0 -
Can you raise a complaint with them if you are not a customer and never was?QrizB said:dastrix said:In my eyes 8 months is not acceptable. Small Claims Court worth a shot? or not?0 -
For what do you want to take them to court? That they don't work as fast as you would like them to?
From a legal perspective the money is owed to you by Green Energy, who are in administration.
Ofgem has asked Shell to take on the old the Green Energy customers, and is going to honour the credit that you had with your old provider. This is a long winded process and relies also on information that needs to come from the administrators for Green as they are the only ones who have access to the data.
As said earlier, somebody has to be the last, and people who left Green before they went, will be the last in line to get their money back.0 -
Lesson learnt never pay anything on Direct Debit again.0

Court's already have a backlog of work. Don't need their valuable time wasted over petty matters that will in the course of time resolve themselves.dastrix said:I have tried to raise the complaint and this is when i contacted them, but yes i have no customer number etc.

dastrix said:Lesson learnt never pay anything on Direct Debit again.and pay even more for your energy? Seems a bit daft but its your choice. What might be better is to request a variable direct debit - I don't have a credit balance for example, I enter a meter reading, get told what my bill is, and that amount is taken via DD, so it's higher in winter than summer.2
