I have a student loan from 1996 and The Student Loan company is now Erudio student loans. I will soon be in a position where I will not be able to defer anymore.
Can they force me to pay even though this loan is 26 years old?

As far as i am aware after w conversation with erudio today your loan should be written off 25 years after the first payment of the last loan so yours shouldnt be valid anymore unless you have further loans with other companies like honours ?0

The answers to those questions can change the write off dates which range between 15 and 40 years.0 -

Can they force me to pay even though this loan is 26 years old? Those old “mortgage-style” student loans are written off when the last year’s loan is 25 years old (assuming you were under 40 when you took them out). See schedule 12, paragraph 12 of The Education (Student Loans) Regulations 1998 for details. The write off only happens if you are not behind with payments, eg if you have been validly deferring them.0 -

I have contacted student loans who advised me because my student loan finished before 2003 I needed to contact Honours. I contacted Honours who advised me they do not have student loans from that period. I have rung both again with each company sending me back to the other. I feel frustrated and other than writing a letter to the Student Loan Company in Darlington what can I do.0
