Missing Parcel

I was waiting on a delivery by Evri, took the whole day off work as the cost of the parcel was substantial. No delivery was made however i received an email from them saying that the parcel had been delivered to my address. I clicked the tracking number provided and the picture of 'proof of delivery' was just a picture of the middle of a parcel like someone had zoomed in when taking it. There was nothing else in the picture, no indication it had been left at my property. Previous deliveries by Evri have a picture of the parcel sitting on my doorstep with the door etc visible. There was no GPS location attached to the tracking number like all my other deliveries by Evri and no signed for signature. I have contacted the company from which i bought the goods and they are investigating. Considering all this should my consumer rights entitle me to a refund?

Yes, because the item remains the retailer's responsibility until it reaches you - not just left on yours or anyone else's doorstep.1
