Webchat is a waste of time, get proof and start a formal complaint to get the cancellation removed, escalate to the ombudsman if necessary
I did think this but Admiral's complaint policy is to get back to you within 8 weeks.
I've obtained a more detailed copy of my NCB document which shows that the claim was made by another driver. I'll submit this to my new insurer and go from there.
But what exactly does that say?.   Is it obvious that the named driver DIDN'T claim under YOUR policy?

Unfortunately you're likely still going to be dealing with call centre staff, unless you can get it escalated to someone who can see "outside the box".
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

8 weeks is the legal maximum time any financial service company has to respond to a complaint... after that timescale you can escalate to the Financial Ombudsman even without a final response from the company. Just because they remind you that they have up to 8 weeks to respond doesn't mean they take anything near that.
  • Think I have got somewhere.
Sent my more detailed NCB document to the new insurer by email last night. Spoke to them on the phone this morning, they understood but wanted more proof that the accident wasn't me. I ended up sending some documentation relating to my named driver's claim to prove the reg plate, insurer, driver name etc and that seems to be enough. Just waiting for written confirmation now.

Understand why this has happened but surely I can't be the only person who has fallen into this hole. It has been a really distressing experience.

Only one? Absolutely not... look on here and you find lots of stories of insurance being cancelled. If you look you will also see certain themes on who the brokers/insurers involved are. There's one from today about One Call for example

Had a look around the forum and most seemed to be missed payments etc, rather than ambiguous non -disclosures!

Thank you for your help, much appreciated.

The One Call case was a non-disclosed cancellation that the OP denies ever happened and mismatches on addresses

Your problem seems to stem from your car insurer issuing a PROOF NO CLAIMS, which included a "claim" that was not yours and never did effect YOUR NCD.

Yes, it could be noted on your "schedule" against that driver, but NOT your proof of NCD...(IMO)

I've not worked in insurance for many years now, but I've never seen a "proof of NCD" that listed declared claims made by named Drivers on their own policies.

So no, I've not had anything like this before.

It would be akin to be expected to declare the motor conviction of a driver who won't be driving your MH!!  (Unless, you had "any driver"😉)
