Easyjet blocked me from boarding, Schengen Area pre-Brexit?

Easyjet blocked me from boarding a flight from Gatwick to Rhodes in early April 2016 but I can't find out if this was right.
They claimed I needed passport validity beyond 3 months from return date in order to enter a Schengen Area country, i.e. Greece. Were they correct?
Many thanks for your help. It has
been impossible to find this information!

I can't answer the question about whether Easyjet were right or not but, since it's over 6 years since the incident, I doubt you have any recourse because of the Statute of Limitations.#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660

In February 2016 the '3 month' rule seems to have been in place - see Entry Requirements for Schengen Countries (rushmypassport.com)#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660

Thanks for your help and clarifying the rules in retrospect. Much appreciated.1

I can. At the time the UK was still a member of the EU (our PM had yet to invoke Article 50) and so travel should have been allowed up to the date of passport expiry.

But as JGB1955 has pointed out, it is now irrelevant as you have left it too long and Easyjet can ignore you completely0

What passport did you hold? The rules for a UK British passport will be different to a Bermudan British passport or a US passport... its much less about where you are flying fromlucevdw said:Easyjet blocked me from boarding a flight from Gatwick to Rhodes in early April 2016 but I can't find out if this was right. They claimed I needed passport validity beyond 3 months from return date in order to enter a Schengen Area country, i.e. Greece. Assuming it is a UK British passport then the requirement was simply that it was valid for the planned duration of your trip0 -
Assuming a British passport, you were incorrectly denied boarding. I used my old passport to enter Poland 2 days before it expired in 2015 and to exit on the day of expiry, as were the rules for the entire Schengen still in place in 2016.
You have, however, left it too late to do anything about it, so that's completely irrelevant.💙💛 💔1
