Renault Window Fault

I have an old Renault Scenic and the electric windows no longer work (kept going down by themselves). This happened as I was driving in the winter with our child in the car - quite scary. Have now taken the fuses out so they can't operate at all. I have been on the Renault forum and know this is a KNOWN fault. Some people have contacted Renault and been able to get it repaired either free or severly discounted. I have contacted Renault twice and received no reply. Does anyone else have this problem??

This happened to me years ago, I came out of the supermarket and thought I'd had a break in but it had just wound down by itself. I made a complaint to Renault Head Office and they arranged for it to be repaired for free and provided a courtesy car.
Good luck in getting it sorted
Needless to say, I've never even contemplated a Renault since, happy with my Fords though!

As a known fault, if you fail to get any joy from Renault, you may find that forums or independent garages know a simple fix.0 -

The window problem is a cheap fix now. Renault did something like they'd pay 50% of it when the car was over a certain age, but they'd be charging maybe £150 for supply and fit, then you'd pay £75. The part new on ebay is £20 and half an hour to fit by your mechanic, so it would be cheaper just to do that.1 -

even with the 50% discount Renault offered but cannot remember what the fix was. Longer lasting fix than fitting

Renault make a big song and dance at the time of "contributing" towards the cost of repair but the reality was they inflated the prices greatly then said they were paying (i think from memory 50% of it). It always worked out cheaper just to get our local mechanic to do them.

I assume it will be the regulator module as there are literally hundreds of copy parts on sale for under £20 on Ebay, undoubtedly much cheaper than a genuine part.
