Yes, duty-free is alive and kicking to the EU but the queues are so long at many airports you risk missing your flight if you go shopping......

Yes, though pre-brexit most items were sold at the same price as duty free with the exception of tobacco and spirits in bottles of 1L or over (obv most spirit bottles are 750ml) but in theory no limit to how much you could buy as duty was actually being paid. 

If you wanted cheap tobacco it was probably cheaper to go to certain EU countries and buy it there and then you could import it for personal use without paying UK duty because EU duty had already been paid... now you have the low limit and then UK duty kicks in.
