transfering a balance from a current account

Is there a way I can transfer a balance from my debit card account to my credit card account. I have done it before with Abbey, but im with HSBC now and they don't transfer from current accounts.

I've done this with a virgin CC. Not sure if all MBNA group cards do it.

There is no such thing as a debit card account.... a debit card is merely an adjunct to a bank current account.


And yes you can BT from a current account to some credit cards... mainly MBNA stable of cards and eggmoney CC; also other card occasionally offer CC cheques that allow you to pay into your current account.

Its a function of the CC and not the current account... that is you need to ask the CC company and not your bank.

hsbc credit card will charge 2.5% of the amount you transfer from your credit card and you will be charged interest from the day you transfer regardless of wether you pay the full balance by the due date (ie normal 56 days interest free period does not apply). The interest rate charged on the balance transfer is usually much high than that charged on purchases as a balance transfer is treated as a cash withdrawal.

It can be done by contacting the cards department off telephone banking.
