Holiday pre paid card

Options
Hi! We’re going to France next month, there’s 6 of us and I want to look for a pre paid debit/credit card so we can put money in as a kitty for buying food. We would like a card where we can load say £600 straight to it then top it up as required while we’re on holiday. Any suggestions?

I went to Spain last week.

Ordered a Revolut visa card. You pay £4.99 for the card or you can just have a virtual one on your phone.

I ordered a real card as i wanted both. You send money to it from your current account. Got a great rate on Euros when i changed the £££'s (1.18) compared to 1.14 locally.
if you run out of money just add money. It was free to withdraw cash from Spanish cashpoints if you need to. ( think they may be a monthly limit)

Its also contactless so very simple to use. Your pin is located on the App.

If you refer friends and they meet certain conditions you get a reward (currently £60) but this ends tonight so i expect i new deal very soon

Why do you need a pre-paid card? I would personally set up a Starling Bank account where people can easily transfer money in and money can easily be transferred out. It has no fees on overseas spending or ATM withdrawals. Also doesn't charge you for a card (unlike Revolut) and its customer service is much better.

When I'm abroad this year I'll be using Chase UK. 1% cashback, no foreign transaction fees and great conversion rates. It's a no-brainer for me.

Chase or Starling is your best bet.

With the usual health warning about withdrawing currency from an ATM - they nearly all incur a useage fee imposed by their owning bank......... regardless of the no fees taken by Starling and Chase - and some other UK  debit cards.
There is no avoiding such execpt in a few rare scenarios.

I used my Revolut card at a Santander cashpoint in Spain last week. No fees requested 200 euros only had 200 taken off my card.

i believe all these cashpoints you see on street corners charge you though
