Together Energy Final Bill Overcharge
OK, we know that Together Energy had been taken on by the myriad of entities that all hide behind the name "British Gas"
I've had a lot of problems with them from the start, and they still haven't answered any of my letters or set up a direct debit.
I have had a string of emails telling me that soon they would have access to the Together Energy data and they woud be able to determine the balace of the account.
Last week I got a mail from the defunct Together Energy to tell me that my final bill was ready.
Here's where it gets silly. My final bill has been overcharged due to a really simple error.
The calculation of number of days for the standing charge has been altered to account for the fact that the last day is included in the billing period.
But, the date of the final reading has been entered as the day after this date.
As a result the number of days has been incremented by 2 instead of just 1, making the total 23 instead of 22.
I presume that this error does not apply solely to me, so I conclude that every one of Together Energy's customers has been overcharged by roughly 25p per supply depending on their tariff.
Assuming there were 176,000 customers like it says in the press, then they have taken somewhere between £40,000 and £90,000 that they are not entitled to.
