APCOA PCN Heathrow Terminal 5

Background:
I recently dropped off family at Terminal 5. I did not realize I could not pay on site, and then I assumed I would receive a £5 bill which I would pay when I got the bill. Instead I received a £40/£80 PCN.
I came on here and read what I could find.
I copied and submitted the blue text from the NEWBIES thread (and declined to name the driver), so hopefully that works.
If not, I have the POPLA wordage loaded into a PDF and ready to go.
I did come across some threads of people saying APCOA rejected their appeal but failed to notify them and failed to give them a POPLA number for further appeal - is there any way to head off that type of scenario before it materializes?
Grateful for this forum, and I hope it can help me save some money. Lord knows I need it!

I did come across some threads of people saying APCOA rejected their appeal but failed to notify them and failed to give them a POPLA number for further appeal - is there any way to head off that type of scenario before it materializes? It's rare but the way to head that off is to complain immediately if you get no response/rejection letter within the required 35 days. That way, even if they magic one up 'here's a POPLA code we sent earlier' it will probably still be useable, given POPLA codes last 33 days and it's unlikely (with APCOA) that a rejection letter would have been flung out within days.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you know that since I hadn't heard anything I contacted APCOA via email as it had been close to 2 weeks since my appeal with no response.Advised them I wanted confirmation of the PCN dismissal or my POPLA reference number so I could proceed. Also threw in little jab about how there were a lot of easy targets out there so maybe I was not the best use of their efforts.
Shortly after I got an email with letter attached saying the PCN was dismissed as gesture of goodwill.
BOOM! Thanks guys 👍2 -
