Note that the headline cap (and the regional rates I've calculated) are for DD payments. Suppliers are allowed to charge more for cash/cheque or prepayment accounts.dbonstow said:The unit and standing charge on my bill are higher than the price cap. I have challenged but not getting very far.

Are you on a variable rate that your supplier says is fixed to the price cap or is it an actual fixed rate tariff to a set date?dbonstow said:Where are the regional price cap Ofgem prices. I think they are charging me extra because of not being on DD, I have been asking to be on a DD for 6 months since changing banks. They would not let me have a new DD without setting up a new contract, which of course I do not want to do. So charged extra because their business model won't let me have a DD even when I want one. So then not paying they want to keep saying court action so a pay a little off to stop them each time. It's costing them lots more in admin not putting me on a DD!!!!0

Your problem is you are not paying on time and you are in arrears, pay them on time in full for 6+ months and they might consider it. Keep not paying them on time and they will put you on a pre-payment meter and take you to court to recover the money you already owe them.dbonstow said:I think they are charging me extra because of not being on DD, I have been asking to be on a DD for 6 months since changing banks. You are already on the basic plan, the SVT, so there is nothing that new contract would make more expensive for you. What is the "new" contract they want you to do and why do you not want to do it?dbonstow said:I think they are charging me extra because of not being on DD, I have been asking to be on a DD for 6 months since changing banks. Do you maybe mean with new contract a new amount for the direct debit to be set up? If you are in arears like you describe of course the DD will be higher.0
