Given credit card I don't want - what to do?

Hello,
I attempted to order a mobile phone and sim contract package through Currys. I wanted to pay monthly rather than outright so clicked their Your Plan option. I clicked order and got an email confirming my Your Plan account and £2000 credit but no phone due to a technical glitch.
By the time I went into Currys in person 5 days later due to work (over the phone and live chat couldn't help) the deal I had wanted had expired. I therefore decided I didn't want this credit account that I did not really understand. All I wanted was a new phone and contract. Currys called Your Plan on my behalf and I spoke with them and asked to close the account. I felt distressed by the situation as they did a hard check on my record and it was all for nothing. I wanted the account closed and the check erased. They said they would close my account but not erase the check. They said the account would be closed with immediate effect and a letter would be sent to confirm.
However, weeks on and my account is still active with £2000. I feel distressed by the whole experience and don't know what to do for the best in terms of my credit record. I didn't think getting a new phone could be so difficult and I am fretting because I am hoping to buy a house soon and I am worried it will look like I'm trying to obtain lots of credit. Should I try again to get it closed or just leave it? :-(

You haven't been given a credit card. Its a credit account at Currys.
As you've asked them to close it, you shouldn't need to do anything more. It'll update on your credit files in due course.
It would have done no harm to keep it, but it makes no difference either way.
But be careful not to apply for things you don't fully understand. One day it may be something important.3 -
While I asked for it to be closed, I do not think this has been actioned. So would I be best leaving it active or again requesting it to be closed?0

It makes little difference either way. If you want it closed and it's worrying you, call them to confirm they've closed it.0

It can take a while before credit reference agencies get updated with things like account closures, it's not instant. Credit providers usually send batches of information on a regular basis - often monthly - so depends on where you are on that cycle. It might take up to 2 months to show as 'closed'.0
