ClearScore incorrectly says one of my credit accounts has closed.

Upon checking my ClearScore account I’ve noticed a credit account I’ve had open for a considerable while (and is still very much open) is saying it’s “closed”, this is definitely an error however my credit score has now gone down as a result. I contacted ClearScore about the error and the email response I got back was completely irrelevant to my query so has done nothing to help fix it. I haven’t changed addresses or changed any of the details associated with my account so I don’t know why it’s saying it’s now closed. Any pointers?

First off, ignore your score, it has no relevance to any lending decisions. It would probably be worth contacting your account provider in the first instance, ask them why they've reported it as closed. The CRAs don't make decisions, as such, they merely report on the information given to them by lenders. Of course, it is possible that Clearscore have made an error, but I would suggest that your lender would be a better first port of call.1

My Virgin Money account is showing as closed under its old Clydesdale brand, and a new one is showing as open under the Virgin brand. Could it be this?I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0

Has the account in question been rebranded? I had a Topman credit card that rebranded to Pulse - it took several months after the actual physical new card was issued before the CRA suddenly told me that my Topman account had been closed, and subsequently that a Pulse account had been opened.
If not - then give them a call and ask why they've reported the account as closed, then come back and update us to help others in the future if they come across a similar issue.0
