Morning everyone
Quite dull here this morning but seems mild. It was lovely yesterday afternoon - I spent a lot of time reading and painted 3 of my planters, then little one came for a play and stayed for tea. She was full of chat as usual and pottered about happily.
DD picked her up about 6 and I sat out for another hour chatting to eldest DD and then reading some more.
Struggled to get up this morning so I'm having a slow start then I have work at lunchtime.
DD has texted to say one of her boxes of books has arrived this morning, the other one is still in Cologne....she's excited to arrange them on her new bookshelf.
OK I'm going to get a few jobs done.
Hope everyone has a good day x11 -
Morning all, it was a lovely day yesterday and I spent most of it outside painting the patio set. It was so hot that the paint was drying almost as soon as it hit the brush ! I did get an hour sitting on the patio admiring my handiwork reading before teatime. I'm a bit achy this morning as I was a jack-in-the-box with a lot of repetitive standing up and getting back down to the floor, but I have to do it again as I still have to do the second coat on everything. It is sunny today but quite windy so I must finish the painting as we are due showers for the rest of the week, maybe 🤔
The bins need to go out later ready for tomorrow and there is the last of the chicken to finish off today. I'll make a curry in the slow cooker then it can go on cooking while I'm outside painting, I'll cook some rice later and I also have some naans in the cupboard if they are needed.
Sunfl0w3r ouch !
Izzy seems some people do thrive on drama. Good for you for putting your health first.
Scarlet enjoy book club, glad DGS was good for you on his overnight stay.
Hugs to all the poorly ones and anyone having daily difficulties.
Take care all

Morning all. The weather here today is breezy, dry and cloudy - there's no sign of the promised sun (so far) but it does feel fairly mild so that will have to do.
I'm now the proud owner of a long list of meals that I can make from existing food stores and will be working my way through that one bit at a time. It will be good to have some hm ready meals in the freezer instead of lots of parcels of this and that. Not today though as it's a salad day. Yesterday's LO potatoes will be used up as potato salad for DH and I'll have some veg couscous made from half an opened packet found in the cupboard.
On today's hit list is a kitchen clean up (worktops, cabinet doors and floor) plus a sort out of empty glass jars and their lids. I've got far too many and I'm sure most of them can go to the bottle bank at some stage when I'm next passing.
Gardening seems to be a feature for many at the moment and I'm sure you'll all see the rewards soon. It puts me to shame as I've only a small patio with some planters to care for but I can't seem to summon up the enthusiasm to deal with them just yet. It's west facing and doesn't get the sun (when it appears that is) until late afternoon and by then I'm too pooped. And it's quite an exposed and windy position too. One day .....
Here's hoping it's a good week for us all without too many mishaps, set backs, injuries etc. Take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Hi everyone,
I'm still around and managing to catch a few minutes to read every now and then. I'm now free of covid but Steve is still positive, Laura will do a test this afternoon but hopefully will be negative.
We're still living in chaos because everyone's either been too ill to sort boxes or have been looking after Esben. Hopefully we will get a bit more sorted this week although Brian will be working and Laura will be at college.
Izzy, good for you on giving up the cleaning job it sounds a bit of a mare.
Camelot, I admire you with your wild swimming, I'm far too much of a wimp.
Have a good day all.13 -
Hi all
Bit of a rubbish day at work today. Still, am moving jobs soon so will be able to put it all behind me. In the meantime, I'm fixing a rictus smile to my face and killing people with kindness
Simple dinner tonight of smoked mackerel fillets and jersey royals - was absolutely lovely. Quiet evening in front of the TV here - had thought about a spot of gardening but the rain has put paid to that.
Hope everyone has a lovely Monday (what's left of it anyway)
