British Gas Fixed Energy May 2023 Tariff

Ive had an out of the blue email from British Gas to fix my energy until next May.  The hike is quite steep so will pass but am curious to know if anyone else as had this?

That BG Exclusive May 23 v1 tariff is one that MSE believe could be worth taking; it's named specifically on the MSE site:

Obviously it's your money and your choice!

I note that you're a very low gas user and this might change the calculations. On BG's figures it would be a 19% increase for you, which is a lower increase than MSE calculate for the average user.

93p a day in standing charges... how are they getting away with this..

Any fixed rates do not have to comply with the price cap so that explains that.

My own fix I signed up to had a standing charge of 51.62p/day compared to the price capped 37p/day.
