Back door unable to lock (with video)

See Video - when I turn the door handle up it normally allows me to then turn the key. When looking at the internal bit it seems the bottom part of the mechanism is not sticking out which is what locks the door (connected to the door handle being unable to lift up).

Any advice? just tried oil spray so far.

Probably something broken inside the gearbox (the bit that the handle passes through and pushes the lock hooks & bits in/out). A bit of a pain to remove the gearbox, but easily done is you're good with a screwdriver.

Is this a locksmith job or a DG firm job?

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

DG or locksmith. A DG may be cheaper.. I'd give a Window Doctor a call first or a local handyman.

your mechanism has broken . you can do it yourself . take handle and lock (with key in) out . unscrew the mech . you can take it and get the right one , It maybe just the gear box if it can be separated . or total new mech theyre about £80 fullmmech and £30 gear box . Locksmith should do it or upvc repair guy normally cheaper .
