Beware Coverwise travel insurance

I took out a policy with Coverwise for a five day break in Cornwall.  Unfortunately I tested positive for Covid and could not go.  Phoning their claim line was a nightmare, line kept cutting out and when the operator did speak she had such a strong foreign accent I had to ask her to repeat everything. She told me to phone NHS 111 and ask for an NHS report, incorrect as they don’t give reports.  Sent all the required documents only to be asked for the same information again a few days later.  Emails are not answered and after waiting 50 minutes on the phone I was told I would hear about my claim the next day.  I am still waiting.
All the five star reviews for Coverwise are for ease of purchase and price, none of them have made a claim.  I wish I had looked at the one star reviews before buying a policy from them.

I was with Coverwise 2 years ago when the pandemic started. I had horrendous problems trying to make a claim with them over a cancelled weekend away in Spain. They just kept rejecting the claim on any number of dubious grounds some of which were factually incorrect. In the end I gave up as it wasn't worth the hassle for a relatively small amount once the excess had been taken off.
