Moral question

I ordered click and collect from my local diy superstore. I collected, but they don’t seem to have updated their system.

They are about to cancel my reservation and re-credit the money to my card.

Would you tell them about their mistake?  It’s not a huge amount of money.

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Why do you need to ask? You're obviously thinking about being dishonest.

Actually, exactly the opposite. I was wondering how unusual that would be?

Then why not ask that first time round?

It will probably come to light eventually and it would be more embarrassing to be asked why I hadn't informed them of their error.

This kind of error happens all the time when staff don't follow their operating procedures to the letter. With a low value item, it's a sustainable loss to the business.

Give it a couple of days and if you do receive refund inform them of the mistake. It is not unusual for transactions to take a couple of days to come off your account.
