Interest free credit

Morning MSE forum friends.

Quick question if you don't mind as I've not been able to find the exact answer on line.

I purchased a watch yesterday, which was north of £1000. Paid part deposit and part interest free credit.

I was umming and aaahing between this one and a one I saw in another shop. Realised now I may have made the wrong choice.

Do I still have the 14 day cooling off period for the purchase, as it was via a credit agreement? Can I return it for a refund and cancellation of credit agreement?

Haven't worn the watch yet so still in packaging etc as good as new from yesterday.

Any advice would be appreciated.

The credit agreement doesn't give you any additional rights.

Unless the retailer is feeling generous, theres no right to a refund for change of mind.

You can withdraw from the credit agreement, but will then need to pay via another means.
  • Was it bought online or in a shop ?

If in a shop, you have no right to return for a change of mind and although you can cancel the credit agreement you'll have to find the funds by another method.

If bought online, refer the the seller's Ts and Cs.

Purchased in a shop. Wasn't sure if the cooling off period applied to face to face transactions.

    Thank you for the reply.

Always worth checking the return policy of the shop, many high street shops have generous policies over and above what they are obliged to offer. The returns policy should be displayed or be available at point of sale and is often on the back of the receipt.
