Today the weather here is a little brighter than of late but the sun still doesn't seem to be fully committed to showing its face! Ah well, it's dry and fairly mild so that will have to do.
My freezer is jumbled up too with things not in the drawers I want them to be in but I'm fairly confident the inventory is up to date.
This afternoon I'm going to go through that and see how many meals I can make from the contents, partly to get some wriggle room and partly to extend the grocery budget. I've only spent around a third of this months and a fair bit of that was on household stuff rather than groceries but my aim is to try and have a surplus of cash at the end of every month that can be diverted to the winter squirrel fund.
Said freezer provided today's dinner - sliced lamb in gravy with mash and broccoli, plus some hm stuffing balls. There'll probably be some stuffing left over but that can go in tomorrow's lunchtime chicken sandwiches.
I've stripped the bed and washed the sheets that are now flapping around on the airer on the patio and have dusted/vac'd the bedroom, so just need to re-make the bed with clean sheets when I've done on here. Other than that, it will be a slothful day, maybe a bit of knitting or family research.
Have a lovely day all and take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.10 -
Afternoon all,We had a run out in the car this morning - only because the filter on the car was full and needed a longer journey to clear it, so we went up the motorway towards Garstang and went to a lovely farm shop called Honeywells. DH discovered it a few years ago when they were working nearby. We got some meat to put in the freezer, and some kebabs as he was hoping we could bbq for tea, but I doubt I'll be sat outside unless the sun puts in a tardy appearance. He also got a selection of pies and sausage rolls and a Manchester tart for DS. We made a slight detour near home to call at a new pound stretcher my friend recommended,& which is next to a new Lid l where I stocked up on nuts, so a few gaps have been filled in the cupboard and freezer again. I took out quite a few tubs which had portions of curry in for our tea last night.Nelski hope you enjoy cooking from the Bero books.I have 2 , one is a 40th edition and looks pretty modern,& the other is ancient ! - think it was either my Mums or Grans, and doesn't have an edition number on.I've also got a Dairy cookbook that was MIL's circa 1970s I think, the recipes seemed simpler then.Right I'm having a sit down with my kindle now, hope you are all ok and enjoying your day x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. A very late 'hello' from Mehefinland
no news.. just plodding on.
Still trying to find a new pony/horse to replace Bruisemare. It's like hen's teeth lol!
Lovely little mini shetland foal in the field behind the house. Don't recall seeing it yesterday so it must be very recent..
Anyone seen Hester? Have I missed something?
Hugs and spoons as always
Mehefin
