C1 Confirmation Statement - Writing on the original will

Firstly thanks to all those people who write on the C1 Confirmation Statement Posts. This has been a great help, and due to this I managed to submit the C1 form for my husband with 2 small things to tweak. It came back a week later from Lanark with what I had to change (seems their turnaround is very quick). Here's my question, and as always any help is appreciated.
My husband wrote his mothers latest surname on the will declaration. It turns out it should be the name on the actual will. To amend this does anyone know if you just score the wrong surname he wrote on the will out and write the original name under I? If you do so would this be acceptable or do you initial or address the change?

Are you sure that it is the will docket that you have been asked to alter and not the declaration on the C1?1

Hi Buddy It says
The declaration on the will needs to refer to the deceased name as per the will.0 -
The comment you have received is poorly written and could be interpreted in two different ways.
Can I ask whether you included in the C1 declaration a reference similar to that suggested in my post of 17 April, shown below

'Currie on Confirmation' also says that where the name of the deceased differs from that shown on the testamentary writing, practice is to add at end of para 2 an explanation.
So perhaps add here 'In the said will the deceased is named as xxxx xxxx'

I have been asked that as I mentioned that on declaration part 1 - her married name previously known as her maiden name, in part 2 I have to add previously known as so it must be similar to the above. It's the changing the writing on the will can I just score our the new surname and add the old one? Might look a bit messy....1

From what you describe, I think your will docket seems to be correct, so perhaps a phone call to the Sheriff Court Commissary to confirm what needs to be altered.1

Thanks Buddy. I will call them tomorrow. It def seems they want her maiden name on that part as her will was written in her maiden name. I will let you know how it goes, as it may be useful for others in a similar situation.0

Hi buddy I was asked to add previously known as to match the rest of my C1. Thanks again.1

Thanks Buddy for all your support. This forum has been fantastic and helped relieved the burden of dealing with lawyers etc at this difficult time. We were originally going to use a lawyer but she wouldn't give us a cost or a time, as she said the work goes to accounts and they decide what's due and that it could take some time. This is difficult when you have an empty house and don't live nearby. I tweaked the form that came back quickly with a couple of miner suggested changes, and 4 days later I got a call for payment and told that confirmation has been granted. With all the advice and being able to seek help, it was easier than expected. Good luck everyone and hopefully I can help others.3

I’ve joined this forum purely so I can participate in these Scottish Confirmation threads. I’m attempting to do this for the first time for my mum’s estate and I’m stunned at how hard it is to do without paying somebody hundreds or even thousands of pounds for the privilege of filling in a form that YOU have had to supply most of the information for! I’m somewhat old fashioned and usually in favour of keeping with tradition but this is taking the mickey!!
@buddy9 Thank you, you are an absolute star and deserve a medal for helping people with this when they’re often at their weakest and most vulnerable. No wonder so many people just let their solicitor do it, they just don’t feel like jumping through hoops when they’re grieving.
I’m determined to do mine myself, these few threads and buddy9’s links have been a godsend. And the other posters, too - heartfelt thanks to all who’ve helped on here. Once mine is done and dusted, hopefully with a minimum of “bounce”, I’d like to help others too.1
