Beware Miele! Poor customer service, poor quality and exorbitant cost of parts.

I purchased a Miele dishwasher in November 2019. I chose this brand as it is supposed to offer quality and longevity. The dishwasher stopped working and the Miele approved engineer has diagnosed a blown circuit board - with scorch marks. No obvious reason for this and he advised not to replace as he felt that there is an underlying fault. The quote for the repair was £360 for the part and £140 for the labour. Miele customer service were not interested and just wanted to charge £150 for their engineer - I explained that I used a Miele approved engineer - they said we don't accept their judgement. They offered a £269 fixed price repair but if I chose this and the engineer said that the appliance was beyond economic repair they wouldn't refund - I would get £269 off the price of another Miele product. I wanted an appliance that would last but now I will be scrapping it. What a waste! Shan't be buying a Miele again.

We have 6 Miele appliances.  Had them for 6 years.  Nothing has gone wrong.  Our previous Miele washer-dryer lasted for 20 years and a friend from Holland had a Miele washing machine which was in its 40th year.

This reputation is why I purchased a Miele. I understand that there can always be the odd faulty appliance but if their quality was as good as they say I would expect Miele to offer a repair to the odd faulty appliance. Customer service was dreadful.

Have you read the Rules where it states "We appreciate emotions can run high should you experience poor service from companies, but we cannot accept active calls to boycott organisations as we are unable to verify the service you received."

Someone criticising a different company on this forum has recently been threatened with court action for libel. Please take care.

Thank you for your comment. I am not suggesting a boycott, just reporting my experience with Miele so that others can  make up their own minds when making a major purchase. I have all evidence recorded via email and receipts so that nothing can be disputed.

Where have they suggested boycotting the company? The whole point of the board is to criticise companies and the service people have received and as long as what people write is factual they shouldn’t be put off of doing so. I certainly wouldn’t want a situation where poor service was ignored.

In regards to the OP you’ve taken the wrong route to get this fixed. You should ask an independent engineer (doesn’t have to be Miele approved) to confirm whether the fault is inherent or not. If it is then Miele will need to do something about it, plus refund the cost of the report.

Saying this I thought Miele products came with a 10 year guarantee. Is this not the case anymore?

    Not now.
The standard Miele warranty is 2 years but occasionally they do have promotions that offer extended warranties on certain items and this can be up to 10 years.

Fair enough, thanks for the correction. Never a promising sign when a company reduces its warranty offerings.

This seems to be a bit of a habit for you now. There has been no mention of a boycott. The forum rules also state

There is no point quoting them, they don't usually return to a thread. It's been pointed out to them many times about their posts/advice.
