Far more than a tiny number of customers are in a similar situation, which is why most supermarkets, including Sainsbury's, HAVE adapted accordingly. As per details offered to OP, above.Rosa_Damascena said:
This is just lazy / down to h7man oversight if I am being charitable. There will be a tiny number of customers like your cousin, the store should be aware of his circumstances and adapt accordingly.mickscousin said:my cousin is housebound and does not have a computer. He orders his supermarket shopping from Sainsburys over the phone from his local store every week.
Every week he asks for a receipt and every week he doesn't get one. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. The numbers per store will be low. With sales analytics systems being so sophisticated, there is no excuse for the duty management team not knowing who their vulnerable regular delivery customers are.MalMonroe said:

He already orders over the phone, it’s no receipt which is the problem.MalMonroe said:
They do have such a service though, details offered to OP.sarah1972 said:A few don’t do receipts anymore.Tesco and Ocado for example. They only email it to you. It’s a shame they don’t have a system for people that don’t use a computer though, could you order it online for him? You would get a receipt every week that way xI’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. I'd never heard of a supermarket offering this before I think it's great that they are trying to help customers who don't do online shopping - the fact they forget to send the receipt seems a minor inconvenience to me.0

New to me as well. I presume he is told how much on the phone. Does he pay on the phone by card ?Bradden said:I'd never heard of a supermarket offering this before I think it's great that they are trying to help customers who don't do online shopping - the fact they forget to send the receipt seems a minor inconvenience to me.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill2 -

I'm not sure if they were the first, but I rember that Morrision's introduced a telephone order and delivery service during the first covid-19 lockdown, although your choice was limited to a selection from a list of around 50 'essential' items. I dontl know if they still do it, and if so whether they have expanded the range of goods avaialble.

The problem is if he needs to take/send anything back the supermarkets will usually require a receipt. We do most of our shopping using self scan which is brilliant as we can see every penny we are spending and usually set ourselves a limit. We always ask for a receipt0

what MurphyBear said - self scanning is great and asking for a receipt protects you if you need to take something back.1
