disabled cousin not receiving receipt with shopping

my cousin is housebound and does not have a computer. He orders his supermarket shopping from Sainsburys over the phone from his local store every week.
Every week he asks for a receipt and every week he doesn't get one. Some of the drivers go back to the store and return with one, but only rarely.
He never knows how much he is charged.
Is this legal? Can he do anything about this?

A few don’t do receipts anymore.

Tesco and Ocado for example.  They only email it to you.

It’s a shame they don’t have a system for people that don’t use a computer though, could you order it online for him? You would get a receipt every week that way x

When shopping with self-scan in an actual supermarket you are offered whether you want a receipt or not.

So in supermarket's eyes normal not to have one unless you affirm that you do.

This is just lazy / down to h7man oversight if I am being charitable. There will be a tiny number of customers like your cousin, the store should be aware of his circumstances and adapt accordingly.
No man is worth crawling on this earth.

So much to read, so little time.

    thanks for your comment.
Sainsburys will not give him the contact details for their head office or any senior staff.
i have also tried to contact them by email without success and also tried telephoning them myself but they would not speak to me as I am not the customer.

    Give him these details:
    Phone
    0800 636 262
    Monday to Saturday 8am - 8pm and Sunday 10am - 5pm

If he's still not happy then he should find another supermarket.

Also if you can get onto Twitter, sainsburys have an account there and it's staffed every day so you could send them a message and ask them to help. That's public too and they don't want bad publicity so hopefully that will trigger some action.

Is your cousin registered for Sainsbury's assisted shopping scheme? Details below -

    https://www.helpandkindness.co.uk/service/181/Sainsbury's-Assisted-Shopping

All he has to do is register and then they will hopefully be able to offer a better service than he's been receiving to date.

I hope this information is helpful.  :)   I am a loyal and regular Sainsbury's online shopper myself.
