Choosing paint colour

Hi
I’m decorating a north facing guest room. It’s a double room but on the smallish side.
I need to choose a colour that relative neutral but has some character and I’m really struggling.
Anyone with better creative flair than me got any suggestions? To narrow it down I’m looking at the farrow and ball range and the rest of my apartment is in New White (f&b)

Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time1 -
Thanks. Saw that but not so keen on those colours recommended for a north facing roomMs_Chocaholic said:1 -
Avoid any colour that has a blue or grey undertone as they will look "muddy" in Northern light.Yellows can appear green, pinks look mauve and beige can appear grey. It also depends on what other reflected light hits the room - if you have red brick opposite it can brighten a shade, but just sky accentuates the blue tone.F & B Matchstick or Orange Coloured White are warm neutrals, but personally, "character" implies colour!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.4

What colour is the flooring ? What colour is the bedding ? Colour coordination etc
Things not to gloss over .
It doesn't have to be farrow and ball .Dulux app has a feature where you can use your phone camera to experiment .
It does sound like an off white is the way to go, or even a pure brilliant white .
Buttermilk , eggshell , apple white perhaps ?There are loads of options ..:)0 -

I went for Dulux Almond White Matt for my lounge after a lot of indecision. If you want light and airy but not pure white, it’s a good choice. It does sound like an off white is the way to go, or even a pure brilliant white .Buttermilk , eggshell , apple white perhaps ?

I have ammonite from F&B on my north facing walls. It's a mid grey and isn't a cool base so ideal for north facing1

I put laminate down in the small bedroom - Wasn't a good idea as I can hear every footstep when someone, including the cat, moves around in there. Carpet absorbs sound much better, so I'll be looking for one at a later date.stevoh said: The flooring is a light wood laminate. We haven’t chosen bedding etc yet
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

I painted a darkish room with Dulux "Perfectly Taupe" ... it has a warm lilac undertone (I found this out via all the complaints of it in reviews - sounded perfect to me) and has really warmed up the room which used to be a pale blue. I then used online resources to get the best curtains to complement the walls and I am delighted! The room used to feel quite cold and dark, and smaller too. Now it's super welcoming. It was the first time I *REALLY* made an effort for colour choice, and now I'm all about that!
