Ideally though yes, completely see your point and have learnt the lesson.0 -

Any remedy will be reduced to reflect the proportion of beneficial use to date.
Thanks, well I suppose that's a subjective question. LG claims theirs last 100000 hours, so just over 11 years. I'd probably argue Panasonic are at least equal to LG in terms of reliability, if anything perhaps more so.
it still works as well as the day we bought it, not even the tiniest fault. As we are pensioners we watch it a lot more than we did when we worked. We are thinking of replacing it because although it works well it’s a bit out of date with respect to features. We’ve done tons of research from Which and other places and LG have an excellent reputation these days. Most limey we’ll get an LG next time as well

Still being passed from pillar to post by Argos. Being told I have to go into store as they can't process this online... Seems its one of those queries no one at argos wants to help with!

I always assume that if a manufacturer expects something to last five years, they'd give it a five year warranty. What would they have to lose?
If they give 12 months it's because they fully expect enough of them might break after 12 months that they don't want to take the hit on refunding them.0 -

UPDATE
Went into my local store and got in touch with the Argos executive office via email. Both were very helpful and explained I could take back into store for a pro rata refund, which I've now done. Got about £800 towards a new TV and the cost of the report refunded.
All resolved, thank you everyone for your help!3 -
