Smithson historically high discount.

For those who may have considered giving Smithson SSON a berth it’s currently trading at a historically high discount of approx 12%. However its performance so far this year has been dire.

Given it has fallen this year from +2% premium to -8% discount, and comparing it to a couple of semi-randomly chosen global smaller companies funds, I wouldn't say its performance has been dire. Indeed, you could call it a bargain if you have faith in its strategy and future.

Smaller companies are out of favour currently. Hardly surprising given the storm clouds that are building.

The 8% discount was applicable up to about 2pm however gravity has taken over once again unfortunately or fortunately depending on your outlook.

I wouldn't know how to find NAV on an hourly basis!
Methinks you are looking at us to give your holding a little boost...

You can create your own watchlist/spreadsheet and begin to guess. I've never owned it but given the hype have been curious to follow it. This isn't a full list but it looks like some of its US holdings in particular are in the process of getting smashed today:

Methinks if that was my intention it’s not working very well

Edit : I based my discount on the HL estimated NAV and the current price.

There is surely a drag in time on the former. NAV will be down too.

Just come on to start a thread on Smithson's dire performance and seen one has already been set up. Did top up a bit a few weeks back but it seems to be continuing it's dire trend. A little concerning as something approaching 23% down. Assuming the upward trend will be equally as dramatic, whenever that is. Intend to further top up but at the moment not.

Sorry, wmb194, did you create this list manually, rather than having an app automatically generate it?

    Thanks.
