Are there any tools for 0% balance transfer cards that allow you to state the required credit limit?

I've used MSE's very own eligibility tool before and am accepted for a lot of cards, but I know from previous that some of these offer fairly low limits. MBNA I believe was about £2-3k, Virgin however were happy to give £10k+ (but this is the card I want to transfer). 

Or is it fairly standard to just spread the transfer across two cards if needed?

you can put the figure on the offers section of clearscore when searching, not sure if it makes any difference

You can't state the limit you require - the lender will decide what they're prepared to lend to you after they've run your data through their systems.  There are some eligibility checkers which will give you an indication of the limit you're likely to be offered, but this is at best a rough guide.  Only when the application has been completed and accepted will you know for sure.

And yes, you can transfer your balance to 2 or more cards if you wish - assuming you can get accepted for them.  Do remember that it's generally not a good idea to make more than a couple of applications in a short space of time.

You can ask during the application for whatever limit you like, they will give you what they deem you worth. I applied for a NatWest one and asked for I think 2-3k and they gave me about 5.5k but more recently I did an M&S one and I don't think they even mentioned requesting a limit
