Durham passport office

I sent my old passport off to Durham middle of April and sent it signed for. Tracking shows it was signed for on 25.04.22 but they just sent a text saying they haven’t received it yet… should I contact them or wait?

My partners is being dealt with at Liverpool and is already accepted and posted out!

Does it look like an automated text message? Could be that it's sitting in a queue to be entered into the system, they're very busy at this time. Are you using the passport service online tracking?

Yes That’s still showing as “send your old passport”

I have seen someone report it took theirs 14 days from being received to being logged into the system

I’ve also had a text saying they haven’t received mine yet however it does say if you’ve sent it in the last 2 weeks don’t worry as they might not have updated the system at their end.

The texts are automated   If your tracking states that it has been received it will be waiting to be scanned onto the system which can only take a limited number of applications. You will get a text saying that your documents have been received once it’s scanned on.

I’m in the same position.  I sent my old passport tracked, next day delivery and signed for at a cost of nearly £7!  It was delivered the next day but my application is still showing ‘send your old passport’.  This the Durham office too.

I am renewing a passport with several months validity but I’m hoping to travel in September and I wouldn’t have had 6 months left by then.  It’s a straight forward like for like renewal apart from I’m almost 10 years older and greyer!

Update, application made and old passport sent to the Durham office on 26th April and new passport arrived today.

The delay in acknowledging receipt of the old document was a couple of weeks but after that it’s moved really quickly.
