Hi - we've had an old car sorned for a few years - but a chap in a van came to the door today and hubby agreed for it to go tomorrow.
What paperwork do I need sorted to be safe - the car is in my name. This chap said he'd do it on his phone to my husband - I have V5 and it says to fill out part 9 - but the chap taking it isn't the actual scrapyard and I'm not sure he'll know the vat number etc.

I would put man in van details as he's the one taking the car, with no guarantee he is scrapping it.
If the scrappy were taking the car then you'd get their details and fill that in online.
A scrappy would have come out to collect the car if you'd contacted them directly.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1 -
How much is he paying you for it? Genuine scrappy would charge yo a fee to collect (£15/20) but would also pay you.I would be suspicious of a man in a van knocking at my door personally.1

It's been a while since i scrapped my car but you can do this on-line via the gov web site. You will get a confirmation and that's that. If the guy who collects the car go's on to do a bank job, you will be in the clear. Last week in the daily wail the report was scapped cars are at their highest price. I think i got £175 a few years back now maybe £300.

Don't think they'd be able to do a bank job as its been standing for 6years and was seized up back then!
Not sure if hubby is even getting anything - but some men won't be told! But glad its going.0 -
My neighbour got £380 ish for his Peugeot 106.
They came with a truck to pick it up
Car are worth a lot just now.

.Number plates my dear. Just make it official, you will get confirmation in the post. You don’t want the police knocking on your door late at night while your neighbours curtain twitch.
