Do they hold well in Thermalite blocks?
Use 5.5mm drill bit instead of 6mm recommended (and 7mm for the timber).

You can screw into Thermalite without a pilot hole, but I've always drilled and plugged them. Thermalite used to advertise the fact that you could hang cupboards without plugs, but kitchen fitters used to say it was bllox.
I've never really trusted them apart from a temporary fix.

You can, but I think only normal screws. These screws are too thick

I've got a few in the garage somewhere, I'll see if they go in and let you know.

Just had a go with a Durox block. Concrete screw went in quite easily. Tried with a 4mm pilot hole as well to see the difference, but not much in it.
Maybe it cuts a better thread with a pilot hole. I've always used plugs when fixing with Thermalites, so the main question was really how strong the fix was.

I always use a 5.5 bit for red plugs, but bang a brown plug in
A thankyou is payment enough .
