                    Hi All,
Anyone tried to build a DIY grass tennis court..?
I started process last year, its getting better but still not ge
ing the bounce needed. Also bounce is not even. It's slowly getting better. But still long way to go to get to Wimbledon level..

I recently got a heavy lawn roller and getting to reduce uneven surface. Hard work with roller is going on . Any other tips from anyone her..? I know proper grass tennis court need bits below grass top need to be purpose built with strength for tennis court. But I ma not trying to that level and players play with are not in that level either. but wish if I can make court better. I ma planning to do a good roller use after a good rain assuming wet surface will be rolled /strengthened better. Any other tips..?
See some photos. dark colors you see are because I am trying find uneven places and adding new seed and top soil to get better level surface. Thanks for all inputs to make my court better!!

That doesn't look half bad.I don't know, but I suspect two things are now required; one is to keep doing as you are, and keep adding and raking-in more topsoil to even out any dips, but the other might simply be - use a different grass, one that can be trimmed right down tight to the ground?1

Do you know any local groundskeepers?0

Has it got couch grass mixed in with it?0

A roller on its own will compress the soil, you'll need to add topsoil and level it where it had dips. You'll need the right grass seed going down and it'll need mowing to the right length - Wimbledon is 25mm for example. You'll need to get the thatch and dead grass out - looks to me like lot of unevenness there in grass lengths3

Or 8mm for playing!

Agreed, think the OP would be better to start again. Kill off the grass, bring in enough topsoil to level it and reseed. As it stands there's too much weed grass to get a decent playing surface.ashe said:A roller on its own will compress the soil, you'll need to add topsoil and level it where it had dips. You'll need the right grass seed going down and it'll need mowing to the right length - Wimbledon is 25mm for example. I thought top-up will do where ever I added more topsoil I added new seed as well.DB1904 said:
